JOE DISCHER (Director) is in his 13th season with The Shakespeare Theatre as associate
artistic director. He oversees casting, aids in training program recruitment and
with outreach and education programs. As a director and resident artist, Joe returned
to the Main Stage following the success of THE FANTASTICKS in 2001, for which
he was named Best Director of a Musical by The Star-Ledger, to direct A MIDWINTER
NIGHT'S DREAM. Other Shakespeare Theatre directorial credits: TWELFTH NIGHT; TRAVELS
WITH MY AUNT, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and THE COMPLEAT WRKS OF WLLM SHKSPR (ABRIDGED)
for the Other Stage; ROMEO AND JULIET for Shakespeare Live!; and THE TEMPEST for
the Next Stage Ensemble. Joe appeared on the Outdoor Stage last season as Pan
in THE GROUCH, and has been on the Main Stage in AS YOU LIKE IT (Amiens) and TWELFTH
NIGHT (Valentine). He was the winner of the 1999 National Society of Arts and
Letters acting competition (N.J. chapter). He is currently a choir member, soloist
and cantor at St. Cassian Church in Upper Montclair. He is a proud alumnus of
Drew University.
